Barquillos y Galletas Wafer Made in Italy

¿Qué son los wafers? Son un snack dulce formado por dos o más galletas de barquillo finas y crujientes, separadas por una capa de crema de vainilla, chocolate, avellana u otros sabores. Las cialdas se cocinan en moldes que les imprimen un característico diseño en forma de panal, de ahí su nombre: en inglés antiguo waba significa “nido de abejas”.

La empresa austríaca Manner fue la primera en producirlos industrialmente en 1898, denominándolos Napolitaner Wafer, porque utilizaba avellanas de Avella para la crema. Un nombre que todavía se mantiene en algunos wafer galleta de las marcas más populares.
